Acupuncture for sinus infections
Help for chronic sinus congestion and repeat sinus infections, often linked with allergies.
Chronic sinus infections are common in the Pacific Northwest. They are often linked with allergies.
The Chinese medicine view
In traditional Chinese medicine, the sinuses are governed by the Lung system. Chronic sinus trouble is often tied to a Lung Qi deficiency pattern.
Robert works on two levels. He strengthens the Lung Qi, and he treats the sinuses directly with acupuncture points on the face. Some patients feel their symptoms ease soon after a treatment.
Robert practices Toyohari, a Japanese style of acupuncture that uses careful pulse reading, very fine needles and gentle contact.
Longer-lasting relief
Longer-lasting improvement often takes a combination of acupuncture and herbal medicine. Robert may also suggest diet changes, such as cutting back on dairy and wheat, which some patients find helpful.
If you have a high fever, severe facial pain or symptoms that keep getting worse, see your doctor.
Because sinus trouble so often starts with allergies, you may also want to read about seasonal allergies. Sinus pressure can also bring on headaches; see headaches and migraines.
