Acupuncture for depression
Gentle, mood-supporting care for mild to moderate depression, alongside therapy and medical care.
Depression can touch every part of life, including sleep, energy, appetite and relationships. Many people look for gentle support alongside the care they already have.
How acupuncture can help
Many patients find that acupuncture has a steadying, uplifting effect on their mood, and it can be a helpful part of care for mild to moderate depression. After treatment, patients often say they feel lighter and clearer, more relaxed and more energized.
Robert practices Toyohari, a Japanese style of acupuncture that uses careful pulse reading, very fine needles and gentle contact. He may also suggest a Chinese herbal formula. Some patients also use a custom flower essence blend as part of their care.
Robert sees one patient at a time. A first visit takes about 75 minutes, and return visits take about 45 minutes.
Part of a wider plan
Acupuncture works alongside, not instead of, care from a doctor or therapist. Robert sees acupuncture and herbal medicine as one part of a holistic approach to depression, together with psychotherapy and, when needed, medication. If you take medication, make any changes to it only with your prescriber.
Depression often overlaps with anxiety, poor sleep and low energy. You may also want to read about anxiety, insomnia and fatigue.
